If you have wool clothes, blankets or even rugs you've probably had the experience of finding a hole in the fabric. If you didn't snag it on something, the culprit is probably clothes moths. Or so you thought!

Actually, adult clothing moths don't even eat. It's the larvae that are voracious eaters. They're especially fond of dark closets, basements or attics, and enjoy feasting on clothes that were not clean when they were put away. Favorites include perspiration, tomato sauce, milk, beer, coffee or beef gravy -- sounds like a typical holiday season to me!
When eggs are laid on the garment and the larva hatch they begin to eat wool fabric in the area of the eggs. As they mature they move on to adult moths and the residue is damaged fibers or holes. Some of these don't show up until cleaning which results from the mechanical action of removing soil and, in this case, damaged FBI's.
